Caster Semenya won gold at the 2009, 2011 and 2017 World Championships but will not defend her title in 2019.

Semenya has since been challenging the International Association of Athletics Federations’ new rules that prevents herself and other athletes, who happen to have differences of sexual development (DSD) from participating.

The association demands they either take testosterone-reducing medication in order to compete in track events from 400m to the mile, or change to another distance.

Her testosterone case with the IAAF currently awaiting a decision from a Swiss court has alledgedly ruined Semenya both ‘mentally and physically’.
