The Debate Is Settled: Ghana Beats Naija In Jollof Battle

It seems the debate has finally been settled as Ghana beat Nigeria in a jollof cooking competition organized by Onga.

The rivalry between Ghana and Nigeria dates way back in history. The two West African countries have rivaled each other in football, politics, economy and entertainment.

Recently, Ghana and Nigeria have had battle of words [and text] in terms of which country prepares the best jollof.

Jollof is mainly a West African dish cooked with a combination of rice, stew (tomato sauce) and other vegetables as well as meat or fish.

It seems the debate has finally been settled as Ghana beat Nigeria in a jollof cooking competition organized by Onga.

The Onga Jollof Battle happened last weekend in Accra as two chefs from Ghana and Nigeria battled to find out which country prepares the best jollof.

Chef Sika Mortoo and Chef Turay represented Ghana and Nigeria respectively.

After the judges tasted both plates of jollof, all three judges voted in favour of the jollof prepared by the Ghanaian chef.

Ghana jollof was awarded 95% by the judges while Nigeria jollof scored 75%.

The three judges from Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa all voted in favour of Ghana jollof.

Chef Sika Mortoo, winner of the jollof competition, took home a cash prize of $2000 and her Nigerian counterpart, Chef Turay, got $1000.

Does this settle the debate now or are we going to see more battles?
