Ghanaian And Chelsea Legend Michael Essien Joins EASportsFIFA Ultimate Team Icon

Michael Essien has become the latest player to named EASportsFIFA Ultimate Team Icon joining his former Blue teammate Didier Drogba.

Michael Essien, who couldn’t hide his joy, expressed his excitement via tweet saying: “Fantastic to join my friend @Didierdrogba as an @EASPORTSFIFA Ultimate Team Icon. 🎮⚽💙 #FIFA20 #FUT”

Michael Essien was one time the most expensive African player when he competed a transfer move to Chelsea from Lyon in 2005 for a transfer fee of £24.4m.

The former Chelsea star had an amazing footballing career in Chelsea having won the coveted premier league title twice in 2005/2006 and 2009/2010 seasons. He also won the prestigious Champions League trophy with Chelsea in 2011/12 season.

As former Ghana international, Michael Essien paid his dues as he won Bronze with the U17 team in 1999 in New Zealand and subsequently ended up with the U21 in Argentina where the country was runners-up to the host.

Michael Essien has won the Ghana Player of the year award once in 2007, BBC African Player of the Year in 2006 and has been on the CAF Team of the Year in 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2009.
