10 Nollywood Acts Who Are Not As Active As They Used To Be In Their Prime

These actors/actresses are mostly veterans and have been cast in more than fifty Nollywood and other films. Most young adults grew up watching their movies and crushing; and now their action is sorely missed. Furthermore some of the celebrities on the list have stopped acting, others too are still in the game, but not as strong.

  1. Uche Jombo: Actress Jombo was quite the showstopper in her prime time as a top class Nollywood act, but after her second marriage, she began appearing less in movies, and there were rumors that her marriage was affecting her career. She later debunked those rumors.

2. Genevieve Nnaji: Affectionately nicknamed after Sharon Stone because of her prolific acting skills, Genevieve began acting in the early 90s through to the 21st century, but she is not as active as she used to be. There were rumors that the fee which she now demands from producers is too large, they cannot meet it. Which must be the reason why we don’t see her in too many movies now.

3. Saint Obi: His real name Obinna Nwafor, Saint Obi is known as one of the bad boys in Nollywood movies. He was normally cast as a hardened gangster or occultist, roles which he impersonated so well. His face is no more seen in movies.

4. Clem Ohameze; He started his professional acting in 1995, and stayed strong for two whole decades. We saw him transform from boy to grey-haired man as he played roles of occultist- most of his movies are based on such concept. He is another face Nollywood has missed.

5. Zack Orji; Zachee Ama Orji was one of those actors who was seen most of the time, onscreen. With his soothing voice he normally played a good character in his movies. He is not cast anymore.

6. Omotola Jalade Ekeinde; She is mostly remembered as the good girl in Blood Sister, a crititically-acclaimed movie in which also starred Genevieve Nnaji. Omotola starred in over sixty movies, and still does, but not like first. It was further rumored that producers couldn’t pay the fee which she charged, thus her absence.

7. Tony Umez; He was one of the actors heavily casted in occultic movies so much so that if he appeared in a movie in which he played a good character, it surprised many. With his cool demeanor, he was indeed a favorite but he is no more cast in movies.

8. Stephanie Okereke; She starred in more than 50 movies, and could play the good as well as bad girl so easily. Nollywood movies nowadays have Stephanie’s face missing.

9. Eucharia Anunobi; She was one of the original Nollywood femmes fatales because she was mostly cast in movies which required her to play wicked. If she was not cast as the wicked stepmother, she was cast as the cruel gang leader. Eucharia is now a pastor.

10. Pete Edochie; Last but not least, is Nollywood’s original bad man. He played the blood-thirsty chief, the wicked stepfather, the evil king’s advisor, and mostly any evil character Nollywood could think of. He was used to scare recalcitrant children back in the day, but he doesn’t act anymore. He is also the father of actor Yul Edochie.
