‘It Wasn’t Nigerians’- We Now Know What Triggered Recent Xenophobic Attacks

Two eye witnesses have given an account of the genesis of what might have triggered the fresh xenophobic attacks on foreigners, with Nigerians being the main targets.

Earlier reports had it that Nigerians who were dealing in drugs in the city of Hillbrow in South Africa had shot a taxi driver.

The South African Commissioner of Police made a public statement which allegedly seemed to justify and encourage South Africans to attack foreign nationals. Rumors were that foreigners had taken over the city, with 80% of the population being foreign nationals.

But a new video circulating on social media reveals a different story altogether.

While we cannot confirm the veracity of the statements made by the supposed eye witnesses of the genesis of the recent xenophobic attacks, their statement exonerates Nigerians from killing the taxi driver.

According to them, it was rather a Tanzanian who shot the taxi driver, claiming they saw it with their own eyes.

They further revealed that Nigerians were being blamed for the incident because of a longstanding suspicion of Nigerians to be perpetrators of crime in South Africa.
