On July 27th, Kenya hosted Africa Laugh Festival at Kenyatta International Conference Center (KICC). Among the acts set to entertain was Kenyan comedienne based in the United Kingdom Njambi McGrath. Two months after the show, Njambi has accused Churchill show host Daniel Ndambuki of underpaying and mistreating her after her ‘terrible’ performance on stage.

The UK based comedian was invited into the country by Churchill himself to perform at the Laugh Festival. According to her, when she arrived at the venue she waited for over five hours before she would got to perform on stage. McGrath claimed that when she got a chance to perform, the audience was already exhausted. That was the reason why they did not receive her as she expected.

When Njambi took the stage, she was booed off by the audience. Her jokes were not met with the enthusiasm that other local comedians received. She was kicked out of stage before finishing her set. Efforts made by Churchill and MC Jessy to calm down the crowd were futile. The crowd would just not have her perform. In response to the allegations Churchill’s communication desk refuted the claims saying she was paid in full.
