Any young person who disrespects the aged just because they’re old is simply unwise, according to veteran Nigerian actor Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD).

Why anyone would disrespect the older generation for no other reason than the fact that they have been on this earth longer is a phenomenon I am yet to wrap my mind around, but apparently it happens. To the “unwise” youth who indulge in this practice, RMD has a few words for you.

Taking to his Instagram page to appreciate another legend, veteran Nigerian singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist King Sunny Ade on the occasion of his 73rd birthday, RMD advised young people to stop shaming older folks because no matter how old you get, your dreams are still valid. This is what he posted;

“The world likes to put a peg on what you can or cannot do at a certain age which is why ageism is a thing and many unwise young people age shame older folks forgetting that every day they sleep and wake up they also get older but isn’t it refreshingly instructive how the scripture in Joel 2:28 talks about old men dreaming dreams, this goes to show that no matter how old you are or how far gone you are in life, YOUR-DREAMS-ARE-ALWAYS-VALID.

I still have dreams, in fact, right now I have a rather huge dream tied around this great legend, King Sunny Ade KSA who I celebrate today, a man who through the decades has risen above ranks and conquered territories, a man who came from obscurity to world class fame by chasing his dreams, a man who still has mind blowing dreams. As I implore you all to join me wish The King a Happy Birthday, I ask, WHAT IS YOUR OWN DREAM?”
