The DJ/musician/philanthropist who happens to be celebrating her birthday today organized the first-ever Gold Gala hosted by the Cuppy Foundation last night. The event was attended by Nigeria’s elite in the likes of Aliko Dangote, Yemi Osinbajo, Bukola Saraki, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, etc.

The Gala was held to raise funds for Save The Children, a foundation for children displaced by Boko Haram. The Gold Gala succeeded in raising 5.1 billion Naira, with 5 billion donated by Dj Cuppy’s father Femi Otedola.

In a long speech where she thanked her father for massive support, she chipped in that her wedding would be much smaller and less stressful. She said,
“I stand before you in my capacity as an ambassador for Save the Children. But, most of all, a daughter; a sister; a friend and a performing artiste to most of you. While many know me as DJ Cuppy, the Gelato Fanatic, I stand before you today as a young philanthropist with a big vision for our country Nigeria.

I’d like to thank his excellency the vice president for joining us tonight. Your presence has already made this a very special night for me. I pray you’ll stay and enjoy some Gelato, sir. To Mr. Otedola, the Gelato King himself, don’t worry. My wedding would be much smaller and less stressful.”

So there we have it, Femi Otedola’s daughter wants a small wedding. However, it should be noted that “small” to a billionaire is decidedly relative.
