A Happily Never After: Newly Weds Commit Suicide Four Days After Getting Married

In a shocking twist, a newly wed couple in Kisumu committed suicide just four days after exchanging vows. According to the note they left behind, they were drowning in debt after funding their lavish wedding.

The deceased going by Mr. and Mrs. Odipo revealed that their wedding cost an entire Sh. 7.9 million. They blamed their wedding guests and the stress of the wedding debt for their decision to end their lives.

In their farewell message, the couple shared their frustrations of the guests showing up empty handed with no gifts to defray their costs. The two did not even manage to go on their honeymoon.

“We are embarrassed and ashamed that we could not start our new life in happiness because you people did not make us happy as we expected,” read part of the note.

Sources say that the wedding was held in a 5 star hotel where the bride and groom arrived using choppers. Their guests were mainly VIP’s and naturally, the couple expected expensive gifts in abundance.

Their big day did not go as planned and so the two planned their demise and executed it. Let this tragedy be a lesson to all to lower financial expectation in this Kenyan economy.
