Policeman Allegedly Extorted Money From France Borga Who Came To Ghana For The Christmas Holidays

It would not be the first time nor the last time we’ll hear personnel of the police service extorting money from motorists.

This shameful behavior has gone on for so long but it seems the campaign against ‘corruption’ especially among the police in the country keeps falling on deaf ears.

Otherwise, it should absolutely be a thing of the past by now for the police to demand monies from people for non-existing traffic offenses.

Ghanaian musician, Worlasi has shared a story of the ordeal with police on social media of his friend who came to Ghana from France for the Christmas holidays.

According to the Tweet Worlasi shared, his friend was narrating to him what transpired when the police wanted to take money from him.

He said that the police had stopped them [presumably for a routine check]. “They checked us everything to see if they could find something to bring us to the police station”, he continued.

However, they found nothing on them. He said: “But there was nothing. We had the driver’s license, everything was okay.

“Now we wanted to leave but the guy [police] kept our license and told us to follow him to a bank or whatever to give him money.

Expressing his shock, confusion and anger, he quizzed, “like for what? He said he was angry because he felt it was unfair.

Continuing his narrative, he stated that for about an hour they were trying to get back their license but to no avail. So they had to pay because they had a show.

He later revealed that they paid Ghc 50.00 before their license were given back to them.
