A bomb-laden vehicle exploded in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu on December 28th, killing at least 90 people and leaving dozens wounded.

According to Somali foreign minister, among the dead are several students and two Turkish Nationals. Another Somali MP took to twitter to mention that the death toll stood at 90 – a number that included 17 police officers.


So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the devastating attack. Three witnesses told the press that a small team of Turkish engineers were at the scene when the bomb went off. They were constructing a road from the checkpoint where the car exploded into the city.

“This was a devastating incident because there were many people including students in buses who were passing by the area when the blast occurred,” said another witness in the area. Investigations are ongoing to determine those responsible for the heinous crime.
