Kenyans showed up in thousands at Mombasa Sports Club last night to see Burna Boy perform. The much anticipated NRG Wave Festival was supposed to be the most epic concert of 2019 but from reactions on social media, it was not.

Burna Boy on Stage

Yesterday started off on an exciting note when Burna Boy arrived in Mombasa. He was ushered into the city with an impressive motorcade and Mombasa Sports Club was overflowing with fans by 7 pm.

Despite waiting all night, Burna Boy was yet to arrive at the venue. According to sources, the artist’s manager actually threatened that the star would leave Mombasa without performing. Why you ask? He did not like his transportation means from his hotel to the concert venue.

From 11.00 pm, the MC kept hinting that Burna Boy was on scene and would be performing next. The artist arrived at 3.00am, much to people’s disappointment. Kenyans on Twitter aired their frustration this morning over Burna Boy’s lateness, lip syncing performance and even his dressing.

Other complaints included the fact that the drinks at VIP got finished before the performance and that Harmonize did not perform. To cut the long story short, the complaints from the concert exceed the comments that prove fans actually had fun.

If you watched the performance live from K24 TV, you are better off than those who paid for the tickets. We can’t really fully blame the African giant for the downfall of the concert; majority of the blame falls on poor planning by NRG.
