December of 2019 was filled with parties and over priced concerts featuring both local and foreign acts. Among the artists who graced the country were Jamaican artist Koffee and Nigeria’s Burna Boy.

Africacelebrities.com already reported how the NRG Wave Festival featuring Burna Boy was a disappointment to many. Now, evidence comes to show that Blankets and Wine Festival featuring Koffee was not any better.

From Kenyans on twitter, light has been shed on how the Blankets and Wine concert was poorly planned by organizers. First of all the rain was problem number one. You are probably thinking that it is nature’s fault that it rained. Yes, we can blame nature.

However, rain is something that the sponsors should have predicted. Instead, the venue had limited tents. Several people who could not fit into the few tents ended up getting drenched as the party continued.

Security was probably the biggest issue on the grounds. With poor lighting on the grounds and lack of enough security guards around, a lot of gross misconduct took place.

According to one witness from the concert, at some point, a drunken lady was being groped by several men. Upon trying to find help, the witness was unable to find security guards at the scene. It took the help of normal citizens to embarrass and force the men away from the drunk lady.

Again, another person got robbed. “A friend of mine got robbed in the venue, not pick pocketed. Robbed. He was surrounded by a group of men and there was nothing he could do. Again, zero security in sight,” wrote a twitter user, sharing the happenings of that concert.

According to witnesses, several other people were robbed with violence along the stretch between the main road and venue. During the early hours of the morning, there was no sign of security at the entrance.

All these factors show that event organizers care very little about the people who attend their overpriced events/concerts. It is all just a shame that none of these issues are spoken about. Organizers have to do better this year; much much better.
