These High School Punishments Show The Tyranny of African Teachers -Can You Relate?

High schools in Africa especially boarding schools are institutions of serious learning and severe punishments.

A Kenyan user on twitter @Katanuh_ started a thread of conversations after asking people to share the worst punishment they ever got in high school.

Now that we’re talking boarding school trauma. What’s the worst punishment you ever got in highschool?
Mine is when the highschool principal made me dig and tend to her HOME Sukumawiki Shamba.
I dug up and cut off all the roots and planted them back nicely 🙃.

“Mine was being forced to dance ballet in the seniors dormitory every night for a week,”

“It was because my mother gave me a pretty red night gown that looked like I was going to a ball. All I could do then was cry and dance,” read one response.

“I was told to look after about 90 cattle for a week. I was in charge of milking them to sell the milk,”

“Once the cows strayed to Kangemi and I ended up selling two of them,” wrote another twitter user.

“We had this one teacher who would ask you to wash a tree, scrub it with soap, rinse it and then apply your lotion or Vaseline to the tree,” read yet another response.

“I once suck out of school. I was told to ask my father to bring a roll of barbed wire and seal the opening where I sneaked out from…with my father!”

Another response read ” We were told to sit on hot tarmac because we didn’t laugh at a teacher’s joke!”

“Mine was when I was told to find the queen of ants alive I haven’t forgotten,” wrote @MathewJnR

Another response read “I was caught sleeping in class during evening preps and forced to sleep on dewy grass the whole time outside.”

From the many other stories shared on the thread, one thing is clear. Punishments were chosen for the amusement of teachers.

Teachers clearly did not pick punishments to correct bad behavior. They picked punishments to probably execute their fetishes for torture.
