Why you ask? To simply see whether it improves their happiness. To enter into the draw, all people had to do was retweet him.
The online shopping mogul announced the 1 billion Yen giveaway a few days ago. Excited followers quickly retweeted while crossing their fingers to be among the lucky 1000.
Each winner will go home with a million yen each, roughly $9,100. The tycoon called the experiment a ‘serious social trial’ to see the impact that 1 million yen can have on someone’s life.
In a YouTube video explaining the experiment, Yusaku urged that those who win use the money as they like.
They will later on answer regular questionnaires about how they’re using the money.
The contest which ended on January 8th saw almost 4 million people entering the draw by retweeting.
The winners of the contest will be selected in a lottery and Yusaku will personally notify them in a direct message.
In January 2019, the artist carried out the same experiment on a smaller scale. He gave away 100 million yen to 100 twitter users who retweeted him.
The result was that he broke a record of the tweet most retweeted with 4.68 million retweets.
