A Nigerian court has sentenced the Director-General of National Council for Arts and Culture, Olusegun Runsewe to jail for contempt and abuse of his office. The Director in 2019 called for an attack on Bobrisky, calling him a national disgrace and also asking that the likes of Bobrisky get flushed out of Nigeria.

The judge, Jude Okeke,  who sat on the case instructed the DG to be kept in the Nigerian Correctional Service in Kuje “until he purges himself of contempt”. The case was mentioned at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama on Thursday, January 9.

The judge described Mr. Runsewe’s act as being against his duties and stated that he should be punished to serve as a deterrent to other government officials. The court made the order from a motion filed on the 15th of December 2017 committing Mr. Runsewe to prison.

The DG was alleged to have been part of some Nigerian youths who matched against the acts of Bobrisky, threatening to harm her wherever she is seen.
