Originating From The Streets Of Lagos, Nigeria ‘Mad Oh’ Enters Urban Dictionary- Check Out The Definition
It’s not unusual for new words to be added to the dictionary. But some words and phrases can not typically be found in conventional dictionaries and therefore, although they are used in every day communication, there is no known accepted definition for them.

And that is where urban dictionary comes in. Urban Dictionary is an online dictionary for slang words and phrases.
Originally, it was intended as a dictionary of slang, or cultural words or phrases, not typically found in standard dictionaries, but it is now used to define any word, event or phrase.

No one really knows the origin of the term ‘mad oh’ but it was made popular by fast-rising singer, Playaz after releasing his hit single titled ‘Mad Oh’.
Many music lovers often dance to the song with the popular Zanku dance. ‘Mad oh’ subsequently became a term people use to react to situations of various kinds.

Now, Urban Dictionary has featured the term in its database. According the the dictionary, ‘mad oh’ originates form the streets of Lagos, Nigeria.
The dictionary defines ‘mad oh’ as follows: “An expression of surprise, shock or astonishment often caused by something unexpected or mind blowing. It can be used as an adjective in some cases.”

Moreover, Urban dictionary adds that ‘mad oh’ is very dynamic, hence it is also a valid/sarcastic reply to any statement whatsoever.
They even suggest that in cases where you are tired of of a conversation, mad oh will do a lot of good because of it’s conversation terminating abilities.

Citing some examples of the use of mad oh in conversations, Urban Dictionary used the following scenarios:
- You got A in that test? Mad oh!
- This movie is gonna be mad oh!
- Boy: I think I’m in love with you
Girl: Mad oh!
