Babu Owino Charged With Disorderly Conduct While Armed and Attempted Murder, Pleads Not Guilty

Embakasi East member of parliament Babu Owino is in court today for the shooting of DJ Evolve last Friday.

The controversial leader has been charged with attempted murder of DJ Evolve and disorderly conduct while armed.


Babu who officially goes by Paul Ongili violated Section 222 of the Penal Code by shooting DJ Evolve on the neck.

The offense which is commonly referred to as accessory after the fact to murder normally attracts life imprisonment.

“Any person who becomes an accessory after the fact to murder is guilty of a felony and is liable to imprisonment for life,” reads Section 222 of the code.

For the second charge of disorderly conduct while armed, the MP violated sections 34 (1) and 33 of the Firearms Act.

Section 34 (1) calls for a sentence of not less than 7 years but not exceeding fifteen years for the possession and use of a firearm with intent to commit any criminal offense.

Section 33 on the other hand prescribes imprisonment for not more than a year or a fine not exceeding sh. 10,000 or both for carrying a firearm while drunk or disorderly.

Babu Owino is facing some serious jail time if he is found guilty of these charges. We shall update you more on the court proceedings in due time.
