Longtime Baseball Coach Altobelli Dies Alongside Wife and Daughter in Helicopter Crash With Kobe Bryant

The world is in mourning over the death of NBA legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna Bryant in a helicopter crash.

The crash which happened near Calabasas in Los Angeles however claimed the lives of another family – The Altobellis.

It has been reported that longtime college baseball coach John Altobelli perished in the crash with his wife Keri and 13 year old daughter Alyssa.

Alyssa Altobelli was a member of the Los Angeles Lady Mamba girls basketball team. She played alongside Kobe Bryant’s daughter Gianna.

The two teenagers together with their fathers perished in the devastating crash that saw no survivors.

They were on their way to Bryant’s Mamba Academy in Thousand Oaks for a game when tragedy struck. Tributes have been pouring for the 56 year old Orange County baseball coach and his family.

“We have lost a member of our OCC family, and our hearts are broken. Coach Altobelli was a giant on our campus.

He was a beloved teacher, coach, colleague and friend. This is a tremendous loss for our campus community,” said O.C. College president Angelica Suarez.

Katie Couric also paid tribute to the deceased in an Instagram post. She wrote ” Orange County baseball coach John Altobelli, his daughter Alyssa and wife Keri also died in the helicopter crash.

They died along with Kobe and Gianna Bryant. My heart goes out to the Altobelli family.”
