Gone are the days when Barbie dolls portrayed one common version of beauty; beautiful and blond with silky straight hair.

Over the years, Barbies have diversified in skin color, hair type and dressing to represent different versions of beauty.

The Diversity of the Barbie has now transcended to a new level. Maker of barbie dolls have just released a new line of barbies that are impressive.

Among the range of dolls are barbies with skin condition vitiligo and also barbies that have no hair. There is also a Ken doll with long hair.

The company behind the popular toy Mattel said in a statement that the brand wishes to “showcase a multi-dimensional view of beauty and fashion.”

The skin condition vitiligo causes patches of skin to lose their pigment.

Canadian fashion model Winnie Harlow is famous for embracing her skin condition and rocking the runway comfortable in her skin.

Barbie also said that in case any girl undergoes hair loss for whatever reason, they can see themselves reflected in the Barbie with no hair.

In 2019, the brand released a Barbie on a wheelchair and another one with a prosthetic leg to their Fashionistas range.

Their efforts in promoting diversity have been well received by the public with their range of 170 diverse dolls.
