Lagos Man Pretends To Be Bus Conductor, Collects And Run Away With Passengers’ Money

Lagos is a wild place. Life in Lagos, and Nigeria as a whole, is about survival. People engage in all manner of activities just to make ends meet.

Because of the rise in unemployment, 419 scams, petty theft, robberies and other fraudulent means of getting money is also increasing by the day in Nigeria. And every day comes with new stories of these.

A lady who goes by the user name Mocha (@raychellered) has shared one of such incidents of theft that happened in a Lagos bus. She narrated the story as as follows:

“The wildest thing happened tonight. The guy seated beside me in the bus I got on my way home helped the driver collect money from everyone and jumped off hallway.

“We didn’t even suspect anything till the driver started shouting that we should pay up.

“This guy carried people’s change. And now the driver and passengers are lamenting. We thought the driver and the guy knew each other because he had been posturing like the conductor.

“He even told the driver to calm down and said ‘we are helping you collect your money’ when the driver first asked.

The interesting part was that he gave up his seat for me, I thought he was being nice. Not knowing it was strategic positioning the thief was doing.”

Incredible would be an understatement to describe this guy’s temerity. It’s simply unbelievable that he thought of doing something like and executed it with perfection without any of the passengers suspecting a thing.
