The years 2010 and 2011 were some of the best years for Nigerian singer, Gabriel Oche Amanyi better known by his stage name, Terry G was as Nigerians danced to his hit song after song in those years.

Jerry’s music was enjoying massive airplay back then and he had since been a celebrity who can boast of a huge fan base. However, he had a lot of critics who neither loved his songs nor his lifestyle.

In Terry’s recent interview with Channels News Television, he described himself as the Jesus of Nigerian music.

To actually clarify what he meant by claiming to be the Jesus of Nigerian music, he explained further that, he is ready the pace for the present trend in the Nigerian music industry.

According to Terry G, his type of music which was once frowned upon, is now accepted in the industry. He stated that he was criticized for his lifestyle during his reign as he was known to be a smoker.

The ‘run man’ crooner said in the interview:

“I’m the Jesus of Nigerian music, I’m not the Christ. The Christ is the savior, Jesus is a name, and for the fact that Jesus is the most popular name that died for us and sacrificed for us,”

On his stance as been the pace setter, he recounted how people discriminated against him for smoking and how now, a lot of musicians do it without any backlash.
