Screenshot: Catholic Priests Should Be Allowed To Get Married – Yul Edochie Advocates

Nigerian Actor and Film director, Yul Edochie has opined that the vow of celibacy on priesthood should be revoked and Catholic Priests allowed to marry.

On twitter today, Yul Edochie addressed the century old doctrine saying he has grown to understand that the sexual desires of the Priests are being infringed on with the ban.

He further warned his followers not to probe further as to why he is making such stand.

“Now that I’m older and wiser, I believe it’s best for Catholic priests to be allowed to get married. DON’T ASK ME WHY!” he tweeted.

His assertion has raised a lot of conversation as many believe Priesthood is a voluntary work and no one is mandated to join the cult.

A twitter user replied, Fabulouz – They don’t force any one to join the priesthood…. Its the individual choice to choose whether or not they want to become one (priest). They shouldn’t join the Family if he or she wants to get married..

Frank Eke also wrote, The vow of celibacy is a doctrinal error; you may vow in the zeal of youth and fall to the passion of sexuality. Bound but broken vows is a technical default of Christian rule. Don’t ask me to explain!

Another person said, Patrick_noble – Now you’re “older and wiser”, u shld as wel knw tht D call for celebacy is not for everyone. It entails an introspective and critical examinatn of one’s life b4 opting for priesthood. Those who’re called to priesthood need not marry. They faithfully keep to the oath of celebacy.
