Nigeria Follows The Footsteps Of Ghana – Pushes For A Ban On Alcohol Advertisement

The presidential Advisory Committee for the Elimination of Drug Abuse is advocating for the ban of adverts on alcohol and other recreational drugs to deter people from using it, major news portals confirm.

Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa, the Committee’s Chairman, revealed on Sunrise Daily on Channels TV that the ban will reduce the abuse of drugs in the country.

Sources say the Committee has presented its report to the office of the President in October 2019 and is waiting for a response soon.

The Committee Chairman also said the the reports will be reviewed by another committee chaired by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) later this week and is hoping they agree to the terms in the report and begin its implementation.
