Video: Mother Arrested For Tying 10-Year-Old Son In A Sack For Four Days, Says He Is Possessed

Iya Ayo, a middle-aged Nigerian mother, was arrested for tying her 10-year-old son, Ayo, in a sack and locking him up over allegations that the boy is possessed with evil spirit.

Iya Ayo reportedly tied her son in a sack and locked him up on Thursday till Sunday when the boy was rescued.Reports indicate that Iya Ayo was at church praying when her son was rescued.

When she was confronted she was heard in the video gone viral saying the lad is possessed with evil spirit and has a habit of stealing people’s money.

The incident reportedly occurred in the Fesojaye community Owode, in Osun State.

Spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Yemisi Opalola, confirmed to the media the woman was arrested and made to sign an undertaking never to maltreat the child.

The police added that they are monitoring her movement and are currently searching for the boy’s father.

”We went to arrest her and she told her part of the story, how the boy has been disturbing her. In a nutshell, the police told her to go and look for the father of the boy if she cannot take care of the child again.  She promised to do so. The DPO also followed up yesterday to ensured that the father is found. There is no way the police can keep the child with them. They have made her to write an undertaking even with a surety who promised she will never do it again.” DSP Opalola said.
