Former Lesotho First Lady Back In Prison Over Murder Of Husband’s Ex-Wife
Maesaiah Thabane, the wife of former Lesotho Prime Minister Thomas Thabane, who is facing murder charges over the death of her husband’s former spouse has returned to prison.
Her return to prison followed a court quashing her judicial review which saw her released from prison after a night stay on a paltry $57 bail.
The immediate former first lady was charged last February for her alleged involvement in the 2017 murder of Lipolelo Thabane, the estranged first wife of Thomas Thabane.

The deceased woman was shot two days before the prime minister’s inauguration back in 2017.
Few weeks later, the 81 year old prime minister got married to the 43 year old suspect.
Last week Friday, a higher court overturned the controversial lower decision which sparked protests in the tiny southern African country.
Maesaiah Thabane was sent back to prison today after she arrived from neighbouring South Africa where her husband sought medical attention after he left office.
She will be on remand in prison for the next two weeks before another appearance in court for the murder trial.

Police investigators linked Lipolelo Thabane’s murder to the former prime minister and his current wife.
Thomas Thabane escaped arrest on the condition of immunity while his wife was released after just a night in prison.
This sparked protests in the country leading to his resignation from the office of prime minister last May.
