Three Brothers Arrested For Kidnapping And Killing A Widow They Met On Facebook

Nigerian police has arrested three siblings who were wanted in connection to the abduction and subsequent murder of a 55 year old woman who was lured to their hiedout.

Janet Nnenna Ogbonnaya, a widow and mother of five honoured an invitation of one of the brothers after they started a friendship on popular social media platform, Facebook.

The three brothers who were identified as Johnson Emmanuel, 38, Gideon Emmanuel, 31 and Success Emmanuel, 27, fled to their home state, Imo after committing the heinous crime.

It turned out that the deceased woman became acquainted with the eldest of the three, Johnson Emmanuel on Facebook. He convinced the woman to visit him in Abuja.

The murder suspect served his visitor a drug-laced drink which rendered her unconscious. He then called his other brothers who helped him to kill the woman and thereafter disposed of her body in an abandoned septic tank.

The police retrieved the deceased woman’s Toyota Highlander vehicle from a mechanic shop where it has been repainted to a different colour.

Ownership of the vehicle was also fraudulently changed into the name of the eldest of the three brothers who doubles as the mastermind of the whole crime.

The police started an investigation after the son of the deceased woman, Chinedu Ogbonnaya made a complaint about the abduction of her mother and the demand of 5m naira before her release.

Chinedu Ogbonnaya, in collaboration with the police feigned interest and communicated with the suspected murderers who used his mother’s phone to relay their demands.

The trio were then traced to Imo State where they had flex to after they committed the murder. Parading the suspects, the police chief reiterated the seriousness of his outfit to apprehend all those who engage in vicious crimes.
