Supreme Court Of Ghana Rules Out NDC’s Case On New Voters’ Register
The Supreme Court Of Ghana in a unanimous decision today has ruled out a legal case that was presented before them by the largest opposition, National Democratic Congress (NDC), and one private person, Mark Takyi-Banson.

According to the Supreme Court in their unanimous decision, the Electoral Commission has the power to compile a new register.
The NDC filed the case in court asking that it to stop the EC from compiling the register or allow the use of the birth certificate and voters ID card by prospective voters as proof of identification.

Per the court’s ruling, the Electoral Commission (EC) is at the liberty to go on with the exercise since it is an independent body and will only be directed by the court if it acts contrary to law.
