Nigeria Chases Its Corrupt Citizens Hiding Their Loot In Ghana

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has vowed to go after Nigerian citizens who have sought refuge in Ghana and enjoying their ill-gotten loot.

Ibrahim Magu, the acting chairman of the law enforcement agency which is responsible for financial crimes fired the warning when a delegation from the Chartered Institute of Public Resources Management and Politics (CIPRMP) visited him at his office.

The EFCC boss bemoaned the huge number of looters who have stashed their money in neighbouring Ghana. He alluded that the commission was putting in measures to recover all those monies.

He said the EFCC is liaising with its counterpart in Ghana, Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) for the impending asset recovery operation.

“Corruption is a borderless crime. We are putting our resources together to allow us to go to Ghana without restrictions and recover our stolen property back home. I am appealing to Nigerians to trust the Commission with relevant information about corrupt practices in the country. There are a lot of looters hiding in Ghana. We are already talking; we will bring them back. We will go bring the assets back to the country”.

The EFCC boss was made a fellow of the institute by the delegation for his tenacious efforts he is putting to investigate and arrest all perpetuators of financial crimes in Africa’s most populous country.
