Award-winning and internationally acclaimed Nollywood actor, Olu Jacobs has over the years graced our screens and marvelled us with his great acting skills.

With over five decades of acting experience under his belt, “Uncle Olu” as he’s known in the industry has etched his name into the sands as a Legend in the movie game, giving birth to many acting careers.


He may have starred in hundreds of movies but we sample through his catalogue and reminisce on five movies of Olu Jacobs, that has stuck in our heads even after many years of seeing them.

1. Baby: Secret of the Lost Legend

Having starred in “Ashanti” and “The Dogs of War” in the late 70s and early 80s, Olu Jacob then played the role as “Col. Nsogbu” the American adventure fantasy film, “Baby: Secret of the Lost Legend” in 1985.

2. Pirates

Olu Jacob was casted as “Boomako” in Roman Polanski directed Franco-Tunisian adventure comedy film, “Pirates” in 1986.

3. Adesuwa

Adesuwa, meaning “A Wasted Lust” is a 2012 Nigerian historical fiction film produced and directed by Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen. It stars Bob-Manuel Udokwu, Kofi Adjorlolo and Olu Jacobs whose character was “Ezomo” in the movie.

4. Dry

In 2014, “Uncle Olu” featured as “Speaker” in Next Page Productions’ “Dry”. The film focused on Vesicovaginal fistula condition and underaged marriage among young women in Nigeria. It was written by Stephanie Okereke and directed by Stephanie Linus.

5. The Royal Hibiscus Hotel

The Royal Hibiscus Hotel is a 2017 Nigerian comedy film directed by Ishaya Bako. It was screened in the Contemporary World Cinema section at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival. Olu Jacobs starred as “Richard” in this one.
