Donald Trump Finally Wears A Mask As Coronavirus Ripples Through America

United States president, Donald Trump has caused a wave of attention as he was seen wearing a face mask in public, for the first time. His government is grappling with the devastating coronavirus pandemic which has so far infected 3.3 million people and killed almost 140,000.

The president visited the Walter Reed military hospital on the outskirts of the capital Washington D.C. where he met wounded soldiers and health care workers.

He had always snubbed coronavirus protocols and received local and international backlash after his handling of the crisis which now puts United States at the very top of the world chart with more than 25% of world cases.

In an interview with reporters, President Trump explained

“I think when you’re in a hospital, especially in that particular setting, where you’re talking to a lot of soldiers and people that, in some cases, just got off the operating tables, I think it’s a great thing to wear a mask.”

President Trump had earlier refused to wear a face mask in public with the explanation that as the president he needed to be exempted from that since it will impede his interaction with other world leaders.

It is yet to be known whether his latest action was taken after hearing his friend and close political ally, President Jair Bolsonaro had tested positive for the coronavirus disease.
