Five Killed As Congregants Are Held Hostage Over Church Ownership In South Africa

Five people have been killed in a botched hostage situation in Johannesburg, South Africa’s largest city as dozens of people were held up in a church.

Police confirmed that a splinter group of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church which did not agree to the new leadership of the church planned and executed the dastard attack.

The prompt response and subsequent police rescue operation averted further loss of lives. They were able to arrest the men who committed the killings.

The church’s leadership has been in crisis after its former overseer died four years ago. This would not be the first time a shooting has taken place in the church. Two years ago, the police were called in to prevent a similar one.

The church boasts of more than three million congregants. A large collection of deadly fire arms were seized at the scene.

Police have began investigations into the whole incident and would soon arraigned the perpetuators before a law court to face murder charges.
