Hushpuppi Was Tracked By American Investigators Through His Instagram Posts

Nigerian internet sensation, Hushpuppi who is cooling off in an American prison awaiting his trial for internet fraud and money laundering charges unknowingly led American investigators to confirm his identity.

The millionaire braggart famous for displaying his opulent lifestyle in his adopted city, Dubai, caught the eye of the American Federal Bureau of Investigations (F.B.I.) who subsequently launched a probe to link him to a well coordinated cyber crime network.


Hushpuppi whose real name is Ramon Olorunwa Abbas led the network which succeeded in scamming millions of people with majority of his victims been Americans.

His flamboyant posts on his social media handles where he has a huge following left a digital trail of evidence that investigators used to link the crimes to him, court documents added.

His Instagram handle’s email address and phone number were the same ones used in transferring huge amounts of cash from his victims and onward distribution to his conspirators.

Hushpuppi was arrested early last month in a swoop undertaken by the Dubai police and Interpol at his luxurious apartment and was kept in police custody till his subsequent extradition to the United States where he is been locked up in a Chicago prison.

Hushpuppi is expected to be transferred to Los Angeles to face charges of conspiracy to launder hundreds of millions of dollars through cyber crime schemes.

A video of his arrest released by the Dubai police revealed email addresses of nearly 2 million possible victims on phones, computers and hard drives. An amount of $ 41 million dollars in cash was seized together with 13 luxurious cars worth close to $7 million.

While all evidence gathered prove his complicity in the whole affair, Hushpuppi who is known as Billionaire Gucci Master on his Instagram handle has constituted a strong defence team led by Gal Pissetzky aimed at exonerating him from the charges.
