Eighteen Killed At A Nigerian Wedding Reception

Northern Nigeria has been hit with a series of violence

Eighteen guests at a wedding reception in Kaduna State, north-western Nigeria have been shot dead by unknown assailants as they danced at a wedding reception. The attack also left more than 30 others injured.

The attack occured on Sunday night in the village of Kukun-Daji in the Kaura area of Kaduna. Jonathan Asake, a local leader in the community revealed the attack happened while the guests danced to loud music.


Fifteen people died on the spot while three succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. However the newly wedded couple escaped unscathed. The attackers fled immediately after their dastard act.

Muhammad Jalinge, the state’s police spokesperson confirmed the unfortunate incident. He added that investigations are ongoing to bring the perpetuators to book.

The northern part of Nigeria has suffered a string of deadly attacks that have left hundreds dead. This attack is been blamed on armed bandits who have been rustling cattle.

On Saturday, more than 15 military personnel were killed in an operation inside a forest being used by criminals to perpetuate their barbaric acts.
