Dan Sheldon 37 and his 32 year old wife, Mandy had visited their local register office in Chesterfield, Derbyshire last week to name their four-month-old son when the registrar refused their name proposal.

The couple who are both atheists justified the name with the explanation that it is a Greek word which means “the bringer of light” which had nothing to do with Satan.

The couple, originally from Britian, subsequently lodged a complaint with the Derbyshire County Council who gave them the permission to use the name amid several apologies.
