Nigerian Politician Jailed 31 Years For ₦97 Million Fraud
A Nigerian politician has been handed a 31 year jail term after he was found guilty of fraud in a five year trial.
Samuel Bulus Adamu, the former chairman of Shongom Local Government Area in Gombe State was convicted on a seven-count charge bordering on fraud, cheating and money laundering to the tune of N97, 640, 000 ($250,000)

The trial began in March 2015 after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Gombe zonal office arrested him for fraud.
Justice N. I. Afolabi of Federal High Court Gombe heard statements from four prosecution witnesses before making his judgement.
He found him guilty of all seven charges brought against him by the EFCC. The accused was handed five years on the first three counts, with the fourth count getting seven years. The last three counts bagged him three years each.

However his sentences are to run concurrently meaning he spends only seven years in jail before he becomes a free man.
