The 41-year-old legislator who represents Adamawa-North, in north-eastern Nigeria had an assault charge against him filed by the police after he beat up Osimibibra Warmate in early May last year.

The Nigerian Senate also instituted a panel to investigate the actions of its member which it explained brought the august house into disrepute.

The magistrate court presided over by Abdullahi Ilelah, granted the senator’s no-case submission effectively absorbing him from the assault charges.
