Real Madrid legend, Iker Casillas has reportedly retired from active football. at age 39, after suffering a heart attack.

Casillas, who spent most of his active years with Real Madrid announced his retirement in a heartbreaking letter appreciating his teammates.

‘The important thing is the path you travel and the people who accompany you, not the destination to which it takes you.

‘Because that with work and effort, I think I can say, without hesitation, that is has been the path and the dream destination.’ he wrote.

He won three Champions Leagues, five La Liga titles, and two Copa del Rey crowns in his 725 appearances for the world class team.

Real Madrid also penned a touching responds to Casillas calling him the best goalkeeper in the history of the team.
