Young Nigerian Student Commits Suicide After Losing ₦100,000 School Fees To Scammers
A first year student of the University of Calabar has committed suicide after she lost ₦100,000 to online scammers.
Veronica Baku Myomuter a 18 year old lady from Katsina-Ala in Benue State, drank Sniper , a local poisonous substance leading to her death.
The young deceased student was contacted by some alleged internet fraudsters who promised to double any amount of money she sent to them through a designated number.
Veronica Baku subsequently wired her school fees in the sum of ₦100,000 expecting to get the double amount within a few minutes.
After waiting for several hours with no sign of the money she became restless. Attempts to contact the money doublers hit a snag as their phone was switched off.
Her school mates who are devastated have taken to social media to grieve on her demise.
