I Used To Be A Homophobic Pastor Before Becoming A Gay Rights Activist – Bisi Alimi Reveals

Popular Nigerian gay rights activist, Bisi Alimi has taken to his social media page to walk his followers through his past before his current ‘controversial’ character.

According to Bisi Alimi, he was a pastor who was strongly homophobic towards homosexuals but has to change his stance somewhere along the line.

He tweeted: “Will you believe if I tell you I used to be a very homophobic pastor back in the day. So I have been on that journey.”

Speaking on why he had to change from a homophobic pastor to a gay and homosexuals rights activists, he noted that a failed suicide attempt did it for him.

At 17, Bisi Alimi attempted suicide which according to him, failed. He begun to love himself as he’s and never bothered about concealing his true identity any longer.

“Thanks to the people that never gave up on me and walked the journey with me. However, it was a failed suicide attempt at 17 that started my journey to self-love”, he replied to a question on why he changed by one of his followers.

Bisi Alimi is the first gay rights activist in Nigeria to appear on TV to openly talk about gay rights.
