Some People In Northern Nigeria Launch Protest For SARS Reinstatement

Apparently some people in Nigeria are also protesting to keep the Special Anti-Robbery Squad – SARS after a campaign to get the police unit disbanded went viral across Nigeria.

Pictures of the counter protest popped up online and it shows that some States in northern Nigeria are championing the course to keep SARS.

The protesters led by Katsina Youth Anti Corruption Ambassadors, held placards with inscriptions such as “Katsina people love SARS”, and “Don’t scrap SARS” among others.

The protesters rather want a reform and not a scrapping of the unit entirely. They argued that, armed robbery, kidnapping and internet fraud popularly known as Yahoo Yahoo would be on the rise if SARS is scrapped.

The counter-protest has ignited a fresh debate on social media with many using unprintable words on those protesters.

Nigerian music producer, Samuel Oguachuba famously referred to as, Samklef shared some photos of the protesters for SARS to be reinstated on his Twitter page.

The IGP announced yesterday that, the police force has decided to disband SARS amidst the nationwide protest calling for the disbandment of the unit.
