The Kaduna State government has lifted the curfew imposed on the 23 local government areas in the State.

This announcement was made via the official handle of the Kaduna State government on Twitter.

The tweet reads:”KADUNA UPDATE: KDSG has lifted the curfew in all the 23 LGAs in the state, with effect from tonight”

The various States in Nigeria were under a dusk to Dawn curfew following the youths protest against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the police force for their brutalities against civilians.

Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai, the Kaduna State Governor has signed into law the Penal Code 2020, which recommends castration of child rapists.

There has been an upsurge in rape cases in most West African nations including Nigeria in recent times.

For the past few months, rape victims in Nigeria sometimes lose their lives in the process. The infamous rape and murder in one of the popular churches in the country is still fresh in our minds.

In order to deter people from committing this heinous crime, there was an appeal at the Kaduna State Government house to make some amendments to the penal code that will see rapists given stiffer punishments.

The governor for the Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai has now signed into law the penal code 2020.

Under this law, a convicted rapist will be surgically castrated in the case of men and bilateral salpingectomy for female convicts.

The official twitter page for the office of the governor shared some of the documents on their verified page with the following caption:

“Malam Nasir @elrufai has signed the Kaduna State Penal Code (Amendment) Law 2020 which provides stiff penalties upon conviction for the rape of a child, including surgical castration for male convicts and bilateral salpingectomy for female convicts”
