Veteran Indian movie superstar, Amitabh Bachchan has joined the growing tall list of celebrities who have tested positive for the dreadful coronavirus disease.

The 77 year old Bollywood film actor and producer who has more than two hundred movies to his credit has since been hospitalised and is receiving treatment.

He took to his official Twitter handle to share the sad news to the world.

India is one of the world’s worst hit countries by the coronavirus pandemic, having reported close to 850,000 cases and over 22,000 deaths. It places third on the world chart only surpassed by United States and Brazil.

Celebrated Indian actor, known for his work predominantly in Hindi cinema, in addition to British and American films, Irrfan Khan dies at 53.

The Bollywood star was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour in 2018 ad struggled with it till his demise.

Mumbai hospital on Wednesday, losing his battle with a rare form of cancer, a statement from his representative said. He was 53.

The ‘Life Of Pi’ actor was admitted to the intensive care unit of the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital with a colon infection.

The statement which broke the news reads:

“It’s saddening that this day, we have to bring forward the news of him passing away. Irrfan was a strong soul, someone who fought till the very end and always inspired everyone who came close to him. After having been struck by lightning in 2018 with the news of rare cancer, he took life soon after as it came and he fought the many battles that came with it.

“Surrounded by his love, his family for whom he most cared about, he left for heavenly abode, leaving behind truly a legacy of his own. We all pray and hope that he is at peace. And to resonate and part with his words he had said, ‘As if I was tasting life for the first time, the magical side of it’,”
