The Nigerian police has arrested a 28 year old Ghanaian who absconded after pouring hot water on the breast of his lactating wife.

Ernest Opoku ran away after committing that dastard act which left a scathing injury on his Nigerian wife’s chest. The incident happened at their home in Akuke-Awkunanaw, Enugu.

Ndukwe Ekea, the state police public relations officer explained that the suspect’s arrest was made after the police received a report from a local women-based organisation Women Aid Collective (WACOL), Enugu chapter on July 10th, more than two weeks after the crime was committed.

He added that the accused person would be processed for court to face punishment for his crime. The police officer bemoaned the surge in the number of domestic violence cases in south-eastern state and sounded caution to couples to shun it.
