A middle-aged man has been killed after an altercation wuth his cousin over some mangoes led to a fight and subsequent murder.

The unfortunate incident happened in Mgboko Umuoria, a farming community in Abia State, south-eastern Nigeria.

The suspect, Chinedu Omeonu butchered his cousin, Solomon Monday Orji after they had been separated from a fight at the suspect’s home.

A witness at the murder scene explained that one of Solomon Orji’s sons went to the compound of the suspect who was his uncle.

The boy went to fetch some riped mangoes that have fallen down. The suspect came out of his room and beat him to pulp for picking the fruits without permission.

The deceased got infuriated after he saw his son’s injury and proceeded to question his cousin for that wicked act.

The confrontation spiralled into a fight and they were later separated by bystanders who intervened quickly judging from its severity.

The deceased was attacked with a class as he turned to return home. Chinedu Omeonu brutally butchered his cousin to the shock of everyone there.

He was disarmed and his cousin was checked upon. Unfortunately, Solomon Orji had passed on before he could be rushed to the hospital.

The people around pounced on the killer and gave him the beating of his life. After they have had enough, the suspect was handed to the police.

The extended family has been thrown into a state of despair as they come to terms with how their kinsman could be that wicked to kill his own cousin.
