Nigerian disc jockey, Catherine Udeh popularly known as DJ Switch has encouraged the Nigerian youth to learn to speak up against police brutalities.

She made this remarks whiles talking about the renewed End SARS protest in Nigeria.

She advised that the youth should learn to speak up or risk being killed by insecurities in Nigeria.

She shared a video of herself making her ideologies known on her Instagram page. Below are her words.

“We’re up against people that have all the power, money, resources and control all the security arms. It’s like being thrown into a gunfight with a stick. How do you win a fight like that, so yes, it’s very demoralising…”.

“I get it so we switched off. But please allow me to remind you of the people who cannot switch it off. Those who can never again think of how to make their daily breads. The real heroes that died for you and me.

“Look, there are two options as l see it. One l like to call the short term option and the second l call the long term option. Mind you both options have the same outcome. Short term option, we go out there, screaming at the top of our voices demanding change, we want our country back, standing on our constitutional rights and knowing the government we have, they just waste all of us in the end.

“The second long-term option, we do nothing, we still die, maybe one by one but we will still die off either from poverty, a very poor health sector and security personnel.

“Let me tell you something that might be difficult for you to swallow: you and l are most likely to die before these our leaders. With all the money that they’ve stolen, these leaders have access to the best medical care, but what can you and l brag of? People die in hospitals because there’s no proper medical attention.

“In terms of security, our leaders are also well guarded by the police and even the army. Before armed robbers go to our leaders, they come to us first, who do we have guiding us. These people have peace of mind and they sleep well in their air-conditioned homes.

“So, pick one, long term or short term because it’s the same outcome. Nobody should be forced to do anything. Everyone is trying to stay alive so it’s understandable. But please, these people have all the power and resources, but we only have one power which is our voice and we must use it in whatever capacity that we can.

“When we don’t see #EndSARS on the Twitter trends or talk about it, the people that are trying to help us will think maybe nothing is really happening.

“Maybe government has given in to the demands of the people. I can assure you that there are people fighting for us. You can take my words to the bank, people are fighting for us, let us help them, let us be part of the solution.”

Nigerian female disc jockey, DJ Switch has taken on the minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed in a new banter on social media.

The minister has been on the other end of the rope with DJ Switch and the rest of the Nigerian youth on the other ever since the End SARS protest started.

As expected of him, he has tried everything within his powers to discredit and paint the protesters black.

DJ Switch who has being at the center of the Lekki toll gate shooting incident after she videoed the whole incident on her Instagram page has been a target for Lai Mohammed and other politicians.

She’s become a target for the politicians and their security operatives forcing her to flee Nigeria to seek asylum in Canada.

In a post on her twitter handle, DJ Switch wondered why the minister who is supposed to be informing people with accurate information could be himself, misinformed.

She accused the minister of always spreading falsehood and that, the only thing believable in Lai Mohammed is his name.

“Hw can a “minister of information” be so “misinformed”?The only believable thing about him, is his name…Lai Unfortunately sir,the truth is a very stubborn thing!

Veteran Nigerian singer, Charly Boy has reacted to the minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed after she accused DJ Switch over her role in the End SARS protest.

Recall that DJ Switch went live on her Instagram page on the night that soldiers were killing innocent protesters at the Lekki toll gate on October, 20.

The minister said DJ Switch is one of the many spreading fake news about Nigeria. She also questioned her motive for streaming the incident live on Instagram.

The veteran singer, Charly Boy took to his Twitter page and showered praises on DJ Switch, saying that she has grabbed the dictatorship government of Nigeria by the balls and is squeezing them harder.

He wrote: “Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce to you,the gorgeous lady who has the dictatorship Nigerian government by the balls right now and she is squeezing extremely hard. Her name is DJ Switch and boy, is she switching on the heat on the repressive government of Buhari.”

Nollywood actress, Genevieve Nnaji has showered encomiums on Nigerian disc jockey, DJ Switch for her bravery during the Lekki toll gate shooting incident.

The youths of Nigeria in October, staged a peaceful protest to press home their demands for the dissolution of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and to also see an end to police brutality against the youths.

The protest which started peacefully ended up with a lot people losing their lives in the process.

It got worst on the night of Tuesday, October 20 when peaceful protesters who were gathered at the Lekki toll gate were shot at and killed by military and police personalities.

DJ Switch was the one who went live on Instagram and streamed the whole incident to the rest of the world.

She was hunted for her works and she had to flee Nigeria to seek asylum in Canada.

Genevieve Nnaji took to her twitter handle to praise the entertainer for her bravery. She wrote: “A brave queen. Thank you @dj_switchaholic. Silence is not hereditary. #EndSARS”

Nigerian celebrities have started a campaign to defend DJ Switch against persecution and harassment from the authorities.

The disc jockey was the one who streamed the Lekki toll gate shooting on her Instagram page on the 20th of October, 2020.

This singular act drew the attention of the world to the scene and also showcased the atrocities that was committed by security operatives at the scene.

Ever since the incident happened, the disc jockey has been on the run because her life has been threatened. She’s now given asylum in Canada and has also briefed the Canadian parliament on what happened that faithful night.

The celebrities have now joined forces to reject harassment and persecution of the DJ. They have devised a message that is been circulated on social media.

One of the key proponents of the End SARS protest, Burna Boy has also joined the tall list of celebrities circulating such message.

The message reads: “DJ SWITCH DID NOT MAKE ALLEGATIONS. SHE STREAMED THE SHOOTING ON INSTAGRAM LIVE.”
