Barcelona Reacts To Messi’s Transfer Request, Says They Want Him To Stay

After Lionel Messi handed his boyhood club, Barcelona a transfer request, there has been some tension brewing within the top hierarchy of the Catalan club.

Following a disappointing season at the club, and with some rumours that the new coach is not ready to give Messi some of the privileges he’s been enjoying at the club, Messi decided to call it a quit with the club he joined at age 12.

Barcelona however, is not just going to sit down and allow their best player slip through their fingers easily and as such has started a negotiation with Messi to recind his decision.

The Technical Secretary of the club, Ramon Planes has revealed that the club is not considering selling Messi to any club. According to him, they’re making every effort to hold onto their star player.

He said: “We want to build another winning cycle alongside the best player in the world. We all continue to count on Messi.

“We are not contemplating a departure of Messi. We want Messi to stay.

“We are working internally to convince Messi to stay. Messi has not told us that he’s not going to show up for training.”

New reports say that after the humiliating 8-2 defeat against Bayern Munich, Six times Ballon d’or winner, Lionel Messi has threatened to leave the club.

His contract expires next summer when he can leave for free but he appears determined to leave right now.

According to the latest news, the beating suffered by the team at the Champions League on Friday is not the only reason for his decision to exit but there is more.

The reports say earlier this season, Messi told the club management to do major reforms in the team or he walks out and last Friday’s match was the icebreaker.

An inside source close to Messi is quoted as saying: “He has never seen Leo so determined to leave as now.”

It was also revealed that he could be playing at either Manchester United or City. The report was released by Esporte Interativo, the same publication that accurately reported Neymar’s move to PSG years ago.

Barça Legend, Xavi Tests Positive For Coronavirus

Former captain of Barcelona Football Club, Xavi Hernández has become the latest high profile personality to have contracted the coronavirus disease.

The 40 year-old World Cup winning Spaniard announced his status on his Instagram page earlier today. This means he would not be available for his manager’s role during his side, Al Sadd’s next game in the Qatari League.

He wrote on his page:

“A few days ago, following the QSL (Qatar Stars League) protocol, I tested positive in the last COVID19 test. Fortunately, I’m feeling ok, but I will be isolated until I am given the all-clear. When the health services allow it, I will be very eager to return to my daily routine and to work.”

Iniesta Honored In Spain With A Nak3d Statue For 2010 FIFA World Cup Winning Goal (Photos)

Barcelona legend, Iniesta has been celebrated with a statue by his home nation Spain for his winning goal in the finals with Netherlands in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Spain marking the 10th anniversary of the country’s victory and the last minute goal Iniesta scored raised a n@k3d statue mirroring the position the footballer was in as he struck the ball into the net.

Iniesta’s hometown of Albacete is the location for the monument and it is reported that a celebration was planned to unveil the statue on July 10 but the global pandemic has forced authorities to postponed.
