American singer, song writer, vocal arranger and actress, Keri Lynn Hilson has called on people to start preserving and protecting the black culture.

Her message, though, not explicit on the type of culture she’s advocating to have it protected, one can pin point to the African culture as the one she was making reference to.

In recent months, there has been some growing desire among blacks in the diaspora especially America to try and reconnect with the land of their ancestors – Africa.

To mark the 400 years of the abolishment of slave trade, Ghana organized the “Year Of Return” where most of the descendants of slaves bought from Africa and shipped to the Americas made a visit to their ancestoral root.

Keri Hilson bemoaned the exploitation of the African culture and advised that the black community should not allow that to keep going.

Her tweet reads: “We have to become more responsible gatekeepers of our culture—its people, its products, and its art forms. We have to more fervently protect our “properties.” We can’t keep allowing the exploitation of our culture for the gain of ppl outside our community. Those days must end.”

Keri Hilson has released some unseen footage from her studio session with Ghanaian dancehall act Stonebwoy when they were recording ‘Nominate’, a song on the Anloga Junction Album.

Keri, who had been on a long music break disclosed in the post that although her work with Stonebwoy was coincidental, she does not regret walking into the studio with him and would do it again.

“Everything ain’t planned…I met a guy on a flight who knew @stonebwoyb & he put him on the phone when we landed. Stone was coming to Atl that next week and I was in w/ @drebombay. I told him to pull up, and this happened”.

Ghanaian Dancehall icon Stonebwoy could be the second artist from the country to get a Grammy nomination and maybe the first to win it, according to American singer Keri Hilson.

Keri Hilson and Stonebwoy has an amazing Instagram live chat on Sunday, where they both entertained their fans with intriguing conversations on how they met and the projects they are planning together.

During the conversation, a diehard fan of Stonebwoy asked if the Anloga Junction Album stood the chance of bringing home the Academy Awards.

The multiple award winning American singer easily said yes and added that even if the entire album is not nominated, there are some tracks on it that have the potential.

Social media users have then offered prayers in support of Keri’s assertion hoping Stonebwoy becomes the second Ghanaian to grace the Grammy Stage after Rocky Dawuni.
