A first year student of the University of Calabar has committed suicide after she lost ₦100,000 to online scammers.

Veronica Baku Myomuter a 18 year old lady from Katsina-Ala in Benue State, drank Sniper , a local poisonous substance leading to her death.

The young deceased student was contacted by some alleged internet fraudsters who promised to double any amount of money she sent to them through a designated number.

Veronica Baku subsequently wired her school fees in the sum of ₦100,000 expecting to get the double amount within a few minutes.

After waiting for several hours with no sign of the money she became restless. Attempts to contact the money doublers hit a snag as their phone was switched off.

Her school mates who are devastated have taken to social media to grieve on her demise.

Celebrated Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh has made a startling revelation on how she nearly committed suicide almost a decade ago.

She expressed gratitude to Nigerian musician Don Jazzy and Tiwa Savage’s ex husband, Teebillz for rescuing her on that fateful day.

According to the actress, she was in so much pain due to some personal problems. She prayed for God’s forgiveness as she embarked on her suicide mission but was subsequently prevented by the two men’s intervention.

Tonto Dikeh’s comments comes in the wake of the tragic ending of Izu Madubueze who committed suicide after a Twitter lady added his name to a list of alleged rapists.

Bab Pool, a 70 year lottery shop operator, allegedly commited suicide in his shop in Kayode Market, Abule Ijesha, in the Sabo area of Lagos State over his ”inability to pay the winnings of his customers.”

Traders in the market said Bab Pool forgot to submit two winning tickets to the lottery office. The lottery winners came to his shop to ask for their money when they realize they won but met a suicide note from the operator.

Baba hanged himself inside his shop leaving behind the below words on a suicide note.

“For your information, Bourney and Osuma. Two of them kill me. A killer must surely die.”

Spokesperson of the state police command, Bala Elkana, confirmed the incident saying the two accused persons have been arrested and being interrogated.

A 28-year-old woman, Mrs Clara Vincent, has allegedly committed suicide after engaging in a quarrel with her husband.

It was gathered that the deceased, who lived on Ebewi Street at Agodo area of Lagos State with her husband, was rushed to the General Hospital, Isolo, Lagos where she was confirmed dead.

Reporting the case to the police, Clara’s cousin, Mr Lawrence John, said the family suspected foul play, alleging that the husband had a hand in his wife’s who is said to have died after drinking sniper.

He said, “My cousin, Clara, was said to have taken her own life after drinking sniper. She was rushed to the General hospital, at Isolo, where she died.

“We were surprised that the husband had packed up the body and ready to take her to his hometown in Umuezeala in Imo State for burial without the knowledge of her family members. We suspect that the husband killed her based on the misunderstanding they had in previous times.”

The husband was in police custody for interrogation.

John added, “Her remains have been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy. The husband has been arrested by the police and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti, for further investigation.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana said, “I am aware of the case and I can tell you that investigation is ongoing while we await the result of the autopsy.”

A video of an unidentified man of God on the apex of a high tension pole and threatening to commit suicide by jumping has gone viral today.

It still remains unclear why the pastor climbed the mast in Uratta, Aba in Abia State but eye witnesses reported that the pastor was heard saying he would jump to his death.

Passerby looked in wonder how the pastor got there at the first place while waiting for a rescue team to come to his aid before something bad happens.

Reports have it that the pastor came down on his own after hours of sitting and contemplating suicide.
