South African comedian and show host, Trevor Noah has been nominated to host the 63rd biggest music awards scheme, the Grammys.

The event which is expected to come on 31st January, 2021 is to be hosted by the versatile comedian, according to the Recording Academy.

“Despite the fact that I am extremely disappointed that the GRAMMYs have refused to have me sing or be nominated for best pop album, I am thrilled to be hosting this auspicious event,” Noah said in a statement.

Noah also made a light statement that he will be a shoulder to lean on in case a nominee doesn’t win an award because he knows how it feels to lose at that stage.

“I think as a one-time GRAMMY nominee, I am the best person to provide a shoulder to all the amazing artists who do not win on the night because I too know the pain of not winning the award! (This is a metaphorical shoulder, I’m not trying to catch Corona). See you at the 63rd GRAMMYs!”, he added.

Renowned comedian Trevor Noah is over the moon after he was picked to present Lupita Nyong’o and her mum with a coveted international award.

The Oscar award-winning actress and her mother, Dorothy Nyong’o were feted by Harlem School of the Arts for their role in creating cancer awareness across the globe.

In a brief social media post, a star struck Trevor said it was an honour for him to be the one to present the mother-daughter duo with the HSA award.

South African comedian and The Daily Show host, Trevor Noah, has reacted to the ongoing xenophobic attacks on foreign nationals in South Africa.

In a social media post, Trevor Noah states that:

There are about 2.3 million Immigrants living in South Africa, this number includes other Africans, Chinese, Bangladeshi, Indians, middle easterners and Europeans who are not born in SA.

Out of this number, only 1.6 million are Africans. The 1.6 MILLION Africans mostly run small shops, vending, service industries etc.

They may lay claim to less than 0.00001% of wealth in SA. Whites in South Africa makes up about 8.7% of the population and controls over 85% wealth.

Though there are increases in black CEOs and managers, these are mere servants and just a optical presentations. There are about 6000 Europeans families who own over 85% of agricultural lands in south Africa.

So when I hear south Africans claiming that other Africans are competing with them on dwindling/scarce resources, I say that your anger and outrage is misplaced. African immigrants don’t own lands, don’t run companies, don’t own mining companies, don’t operate trophy hunting companies, do not ship out capital to European banks.

Yours is a complete misplaced anger, prejudice and xenophobia built up out of inferiority complex created by decades of apartheid and oppression. I don’t see fellow African as a competitor but a fellow compatriot who is struggling to feed his family and have some comfort in this short life-time.

If you feel undeserved in wealth distribution, please research again who controls that wealth and it has nothing to do with some Nigerian, Zimbabwean or Mozambican working in a restaurant or Ethiopian running a small shop, or a Ghanaian mechanic working hard in the sun.Share for spirit of “Ubuntu”.

South African comedian and The Daily Show host, Trevor Noah, is officially the fourth highest paid comedian in the world for the first time according to Forbes list for highest paid comedians.

The South African-born star made a whopping $28 million (R430 million) last year through various projects including his day job as The Daily Show host and his stand-up shows. The bulk of his earnings, however, came through his 70-stop worldwide stand up tour.

“Despite the demands of hosting a late-night show, Noah made more than 70 stops across the world and had his second Netflix special last fall. In addition, his 2016 book, Born a Crime, is still ranked No. 1 on the New York Times’ bestseller list for paperback nonfiction,” the magazine reported.

Not only is the 35-year-old still making some serious money through his book sales from his New York best seller Born A Crime but he also made a significant amount from his second Netflix special, Trevor Noah: Son of Patricia.

The Daily Show host’s star continues to rise. Noah was named one of “The 35 Most Powerful People in New York Media” by The Hollywood Reporter in 2017 and 2018. In 2018, Time magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world and this year he bagged four nominations at the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People (NAACP) awards.

Although Trevor is pretty rich, he is nowhere close to earning as much as the comedian in the number one spot, Kevin Hart.

Jerry Seinfeld and Jim Gaffigan hold the second and third positions on the list with R632 million and R462 million respectively.

Burna Boy made an appearance on Trevor Noah’s ‘The Daily Show’ last night to discuss his latest African Giant album.

The artist appeared noticeably excited as he sat down for an interview with the host to discuss his success, being one of the biggest artists from the continent appearing on Beyoncé’s Lion King: The Gift album, why he describes his music as “afrofusion,” and the famous Coachella font incident that inspired the name of his album.

The artist shared that he learned the news while answering to nature’s call and felt he had to say something about how his name appeared on the bill to represent African artists.
